RICHMOND, Ind. (December 18, 2025) Liberation Bioindustries has been named one of 26 Food-Techs to Watch in 2026 by Protein Production Technology International (PPTI). The annual recognition, determined by industry professionals and readers, highlights the most promising and impactful companies transforming the global food-tech landscape.
“We’re honored to be recognized alongside such an impressive group of innovators,” said Mark Warner, co-founder and CEO of Liberation Bioindustries. “This recognition reflects the hard work of our entire team as we approach the launch of our Richmond facility in 2026. Next year is shaping up to be a pivotal year not just for Liberation Bioindustries, but for the entire precision fermentation industry. The companies on this list represent the future of sustainable food production, and we’re excited to be part of that transformation.”
Liberation Bioindustries is in the late stages of constructing its first commercial-scale, purpose-built, precision fermentation biomanufacturing facility with a capacity of 600,000 liters and a fully dedicated downstream process (DSP). The Richmond plant is scheduled to begin operations in early 2026 and will produce a range of bio-based materials, including building block ingredients for food, chemicals and other industrial products at a scale and cost that will fill a pressing need among both new and established consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies and other industrial manufacturers.
The company has made significant progress in customer acquisition, with well over 50 percent of nameplate capacity at the Richmond plant under contract or in late stages of agreements. Liberation Bioindustries will produce commercial scale volumes of Vivitein™ BLG, a dairy protein for Dutch ingredients startup Vivici. The company has also announced a strategic partnership with Topian, NEOM’s food company, to design and develop an advanced precision fermentation facility in Saudi Arabia, with planning currently underway.
PPTI’s 26 Food-Techs to Watch feature attracted more than 2,000 votes from industry professionals in its inaugural year. The recognition spans companies working across precision fermentation, biomass protein, cultivated meat, and advanced ingredient engineering. Nick Bradley, Editor of *Protein Production Technology International*, noted that the voting response “shows just how invested this community is in recognizing and celebrating genuine innovation.”
